Step inside Château de Chevigny-en-Valière, a true Burgundian folly just 12 minutes from Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy wine country. For 35 years, Louis Brossard filled this French château with treasures rescued from Haussmann’s Paris: carved doors from the former Russian Embassy, decors from Place des Victoires, marble stables fit for princes.
The owner takes you through hidden painted rooms, a suspended double-helix staircase built by the Eiffel workshops, and an Italian-style private theater installed by Charles Garnier, lit by a mouth-blown Murano chandelier found hidden in shoeboxes.
Château de Chevigny-en-Valière is not open to the public, private visits only.
