Jean-Louis Remilleux

1959-present

TV Producer

Jean-Louis Remilleux, owner of the château de Digoine in the Saône-et-Loire department in eastern France, belongs to a small circle of enthusiasts who devote their lives to saving and reviving great houses. A television producer, collector, and lover of the decorative arts, he has built a career in broadcasting alongside a body of work in heritage restoration.

Born on April 2, 1959, in Lyon, he began his career in journalism, at Le Quotidien de Paris and then at Le Figaro, before turning to television production. As head of the Société européenne de production from 2005 to 2012, he produced highly successful cultural and historical programs. His credits include Secrets d'Histoire, hosted by Stéphane Bern on France 2 since 2007, as well as Vu du ciel, developed with Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

His passion for the art of living and decoration drew him to châteaux early on. In 1999, he acquired the château de Groussay in Montfort-l'Amaury, west of Paris, which he opened to the public in 2000 before selling it in 2012.

That same year, he took over the château de Digoine, in Palinges. An 18th-century building remodeled by architect Edme Verniquet, Digoine retains a rare Italian-style theater, a neo-Gothic library, and an 86-acre English-style park, designated a "Jardin remarquable."

A discerning connoisseur of the decorative arts, he assembled major collections and, in 2015, sold part of them at Christie's to help fund his restoration projects. His commitment to heritage and the arts earned him the honors of Chevalier of the National Order of Merit in 2003 and Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2014.
